Captain Lovewell in the mold room and a Short Tour of Northwest Artcasting
Posted by: clayguy1
Video duration: 669 seconds
I had some business to do at the foundry today and a friend of mine had an old bronze, she wanted to see if it could be repaired, so I took her on a tour of the foundry. Gale Gough and her husband are great friends of mine.
While at the foundry, I got to see the Captain John Lovewell clay being prepaired for molding.

Transition

Decided over the weekend to not continue on The Protector, because the artmarket just won't work for a piece as big as this piece is. I've decided to do a smaller clay, and maybe do a female, Indian or Pioneer woman. Just not sure as of this video. See you in a couple of days.

The Protector - Foaming - Part B
Posted by: clayguy1
Video duration: 525 seconds
A sculpture of an Blackfoot Indian, dressed in a full Eagle Feathered Headdress, covered in Ermine. I'm reworking it's body, because the original one was starting to fall apart. It was also off on the proportions. So I've needed to make drastic changes to it's design and structure.

The Protector - Creating the Foundation for the Re-Work
Posted by: clayguy1
Video duration: 598 seconds
A sculpture of an Indian Chief, dressed in a full Eagle Feathered Headdress.
Made a weak armature when I first did this piece and so now I need to rebuild to recover this piece. If I can't then it's lost.

The Protector - Re-looking at it
Posted by: clayguy1
Video duration: 189 seconds
Started this clay in 2010. It's been in clay since then. I've seen problems in it's proportions, and have battled with myself to tackle them.. Well I'm going to.

I wanted to get some reference material for future sculptures today. So I took a short trip to Yellowstone National Park.
