Art is very simple ... By: lukeo25. on 21 May 12, 09:23:41 Art is very simple to understand. First there has to be "artistic intent" the purpose for wich something artistic is done . There has to be an "artifact" the object, performance, image... Then there has to be "reification"..that last? word is a biggy look it up. Basically what everybody else thinks. As for what contextualisation ,ideology and form art can take, look up Scot Mcclouds triangle its the easiest to understand.
I like your ... By: conceptualM. on 21 May 12, 06:16:24 I like your reflections.... I feel there could be more insights to be shared, and many other interesting reflections for next video :)
Example: what is the purpose of art? For me there is in that part for example a distinction between design (purpose is to be liked by others) and art (for the purpose of self expression and scratching the soul of? the artist ?)....
Anyway, was fun to watch

Wouldn't it depend ... By: VanessaTexasGal. on 28 Apr 12, 17:57:39 Wouldn't it depend on what you think the purpose of art is? Different people argue that art has different purposes. I've heard: Art is a selective re-creation of reality according to an? artist's metaphysical value-judgments. (objectivism), Experience of the mysterious (einstein). And Kim Jong Il saw it as a tool for propaganda. lol in the end, what I see as art, you might not. wikipedia : Art is a term that describes a diverse range of human activities and the products of those activities
Bravo. I agree with ... By: alfred015. on 15 Apr 12, 17:38:15 Bravo. I agree with your ending? question!
(1) The question ... By: juliusdobos. on 12 Apr 12, 03:42:38 (1) The question the video poses is? great, however I don't agree with the implied conclusion. In my opinion, the words "art" and "artist" are used extremely lightly these days. Most everyone is automatically an "artist" who happens to snap a "good" photo, or can sing better than average, or draws some shapes that "must" mean something (and the meaning is often forced on the drawing after it's completed, just to validate it). Of course, this is not everyone, there are certainly many exceptions.
(2) I believe it ... By: juliusdobos. on 12 Apr 12, 03:42:20 (2) I believe it takes way more to create true "art" - to start with, a personal, direct or indirect experience-based perspective on life, or an element of life... (which is why art students? usually are in a disadvantage simply b/c of their extent of life experience, also why an art degree doesn't make one an artist)... also an original way of expressing it. Despite of having composed hundreds of hours of original music (most commissioned) for movies, television, exhibitions, installations, etc.
(3) that won awards ... By: juliusdobos. on 12 Apr 12, 03:42:11 (3) that won awards, I've never in my life felt comfortable to call myself an "artist", nor my pieces "art" - and never did. Funnily, many creators I've worked with (both new & established), boldly introduce themselves: "I'm an Artist". To me, this statement should never come from the creator. I'd rather draw the lines between these categories: technology-dependent creative users, artsy dreamers (self-declared "artists" /? wannabe-s), entertainment industry production people, and true artists.
and if you are open ... By: immaaufdiefresserauf. on 29 Mar 12, 22:28:15 and if you are open to your feelings, and if you? even like to share them, you will automatically be a good artist.
on the other hand ... By: immaaufdiefresserauf. on 29 Mar 12, 22:26:01 on the other hand no effort is needed to experience feelings and to display them, as long as you and maybe other persons, get, what feeling? you want to catch/display/share.
every body who has ... By: immaaufdiefresserauf. on 29 Mar 12, 22:25:27 every body who has feelings is an artist. and if you try to catch a feeling in some way (words, pictures, music, a gesture, voice) you can remember it and you can show to others, that you are experiencing a feeling, that you are an artist. shure, you can put a lot of work into the art, but this only shows, that one or more feelings mean a? lot to you, and that you want to share this/these feelings..
Great video. I have ... By: arthollins. on 14 Mar 12, 08:26:20 Great video. I have come to realise art is a different sensation to the day to day way we experience objects. An artist tries to picture this sensation but will ALWAYS transform it into something we know how to recognise. They will paint a picture of a landscape, sulpture a portrait or even preset a ready-made like a urinal. All these things we know how to recognise through our intelligence but art is a glimpse of ANY object BEFORE we impose? this way of looking over what we see.
I agree that ... By: yykdarkphantom. on 04 Mar 12, 16:02:23 I agree that anything can be considered Art. However I do believe that in a time like this when there is such strong capitalism attached to Art, a line has to be drawn between works that truly reflect skill and thought and those that can be created by anyone on the street. It is much like music. We admire songs that follow musical rules because they sound pleasant to the ears. However when a baby goes to a piano and slams the keys, we call it noise and not? music. Same goes to Art.
I'm an art student ... By: melwills0052. on 28 Feb 12, 21:57:36 I'm an art student that focuses on Photography with fine art/ fashion and fashion styling.
My friends always ask 'Why do these artists get so much recognition for splashing paint on a canvas and earning millions?! I could have done that!!' (sighs) I always reply with 'Well the fact is you didn't think of? that idea first did you?'' Surrealism is most commonly the misunderstood art. People just need to learn that our life shows art in different forms and we as artists embrace that in our work! :)
everthing that " ... By: Jeremias1364. on 23 Feb 12, 01:28:24 everthing that "art? students" say is art is crap.
my only argument ... By: kpanonymousazn. on 15 Feb 12, 05:53:04 my only argument for this would be the credibility that certain artists need to have for their art to be displayed. For instance, a dot on the wall, anybody can mark a dot on the? wall, but you have to have some sort of fame for this to be recognized as "art". Just because some critique said that this great artist was trying to express certain "messages" with that they are showing. If some ordinary person can mark a dot on the wall and stimulate imaginations, then we are all considered artists.
