An homage to the numerous other styles and forms of animation that I do not classify as popular 'anime'. These are the forms of animation rapidly being forgotten, and they shouldn't be. The song is the full choral version of Lucius Dei by Globus. Its been pointed out to me that Thundercats...

1: Anime is both popular and sacrosanct, with fans allowing no changes to formula? and accepting flaws as inherent. 2: You're missing the point. These didn't have huge studio backing. This was went individual animators TRIED. 3: Dated? So is good story telling and movies without racism. Western Animation is remaining static and so is Anime. I wish both would reexamine where they came from and strive for something better then settling for less.
By: TheReaperNX. on 26 Jun 11, 06:16:09
1. Anime is still fairly niche, especially in Western markets. Not as much as before, it's known, sure, but not exactly popular. 2. Not all of these are good films/show, or even possessing of great animation. 3. I'm really tired of people constantly smitten with nostalgia. Yes, a lot of this video is composed of great animation work,? but much of it feels so very...dated. Probably not the right word. Animation (Western) is changing, and there is nothing inherently wrong with that.

Cool tribute. That's? the kind of animation I like to see. Great inspirational video. I'll fave this to remind me I need to start animating again.

I'm glad you're another fan of the Dune miniseries! A lot of people complained but its not only the best existing Dune film its also the best thing Sci-Fi has ever made. Cameron I hope wants to make something of himself but there's only two likelihood's to him making a film as shallow and terrible as Avatar. Either he doesn't care...or? he doesn't know. The problem is with its success he'll never know how derivative and boring it is so he'll likely never improve :/
By: bloodrunsclear. on 30 Mar 11, 06:37:40
Good choice! Avatar is nothing more then Cameron unfortunately showing his true colors. He has no idea how to write and became? famous too early to know anything but effects. I'm not that fond of Cameron. Titanic was an exploitive film that did nothing new. Terminator 2 he actually came in AFTER it was nearly finished by an Italian director so his claim to 'directing' that is a lie. You want to see his first real film? Its called Piranha 2.
By: Johnlindsey289. on 30 Mar 11, 06:32:17
Gore Verbinski. Avatar is nothing but a cinematic scam only to make money right?? What do you think of James Cameron himself?
By: Johnlindsey289. on 30 Mar 11, 06:31:04
You don't think Avatar deserves to make money right? it's a? cinematic scam isn't it? Is James Cameron just another shallow mindless filmmaker who cares nothing but money and you don't think it will ever be as good as Terminator 2 right? The Mini-series did more justice to Herbert's book than Lynch's monstrosity.
By: bloodrunsclear. on 30 Mar 11, 05:57:53
At least David Lych's movie was memorable in some? way shape or form. I can still remember lines of dialogue and parts of the music. Avatar all I remember is being either bored or furious. I had hoped the new Dune would be directed by Peter Berg, but apparently that's not so anymore. Peter Jackson might be an interesting choice. Who would you hire? :)
By: Johnlindsey289. on 30 Mar 11, 05:53:47
Do you think it's as bad as David Lynch's expensive trainwreck adaptation of Dune? i can't wait for the new Dune movie and maybe it'll erase the memories? of that 1984 clunker (aka Lynch's worst film).
By: bloodrunsclear. on 30 Mar 11, 05:43:49
Avatar is a dumbed down version of Last Samurai with less subtlety. Dune and Nausicaa had interesting alien creatures. All Avatar had was horses and rhinos. It sold well because it ushered in 3D and there was nothing else to see at the time. Cameron is good at making money. I just wish he cared about? storytelling.
By: Johnlindsey289. on 30 Mar 11, 05:35:46
Do you also think Avatar is also a dumbed down version of Frank Herbert's Dune and Nausicaa? i mean he did borrowed from it at times. What do you think of it being the highest grossing movie of all time? and it's Cameron's worst? film right and killing cinema right?
By: bloodrunsclear. on 30 Mar 11, 05:14:23
That is such nonsense. He uses the term 'shock and awe' and other Bushisms. If he had time to update that he could see how much of a pale rip off his film was. He had half a billion dollars and all he could make really was a film with no identity made just to hammer in a ham-handed environmentalist message which doesn't even make any sense? Its inferior to Dances which was well directed and Terminator and Aliens had character and action. Even? Bay had SOMETHING happening!
By: Johnlindsey289. on 30 Mar 11, 05:10:26
Cameron wrote Avatar in 1993 before Last Samurai and Pocahontas, Cameron had to wait a decade until 2006 for the technology to do his idea justice after he was convinced by LOTR and King Kong's technology he filmed it rightaway. You think it's inferior to Dances? with Wolves and do you think it's on par with Terminator 1 & 2 or Aliens? or is James Cameron just Michael Bay redux?
By: bloodrunsclear. on 30 Mar 11, 05:03:52
No, I'm pissed that such a blatant, artless, plodding,? hateful film was made at all. If it had been a bomb I'd still hate it. It doesn't deserve public access cable release without being sued because it was made before and called Pocahantus. Or Dances with Wolves. Or Last Samurai. Its nothing special in any front, no more or less important then the Star Wars Prequels in terms of effects and even then at least Star Wars was exciting and original sometimes...
By: Johnlindsey289. on 30 Mar 11, 04:49:25
Jealous of Avatar's success are you? you don't? think it deserves to be highest grossing movie of all time and getting critical acclaim? do you think it's on par with Cameron's Terminator 1 & 2 and Aliens? or is Avatar the biggest fraud in cinematic history? i believe it has brilliant CGI that perfected motion capture without the dead-eye syndrome like in Polar Express.
By: bloodrunsclear. on 30 Mar 11, 04:08:07
Sorry (I'm? a bit of a dedicated Avatar hater ^^;)
By: Johnlindsey289. on 30 Mar 11, 02:55:59
SatAM and Avatar both deal with technology vs. nature and Robotnik/Quatrich are the same kind of evil person. Similarities to Starchaser is both were 3D Sci-fi fantasy adventures with young man becoming hero and? fighting a tyrant as even the forest is similar to the jungle in Starchaser. Who would win in a contest between Neytiri and Taarna in a battle? they are kind of alike don't you think especially with the dragon.
By: bloodrunsclear. on 30 Mar 11, 01:19:36
SATAM? That had a good story. Last of the Mohicans has actual pathos, Dune has credible science, Nausicaa? had a likable lead and Heavy Metal had some original ideas XD But I agree, there are a lot of influences easily seen.
