These images arrived in a PDF from someone in Belgium. These are probably Mursi and Suri. The Omo River empties into Lake Turkana. Lately, it's been spoiled by too many tourists, probably lured there by images like these. Sigh....

Does it really? matter? Are the photos and the unique beauty insufficient to simply enjoy and appreciate? Must everything be reduced to some conflict whether imagined or real? Savor in the beauty and leave all else behind...except you imagination.

@TubunMuzu: (1) These people aren't "the Omo," that's a geographic region, not a tribe. (2) These people do not "repaint several times a day," LOL! They would have time for nothing else. One painting can last days or weeks. Also, they aren't all painted all the time. And yes, a lot of what you see here, particularly the flora they put on their heads, is mainly for the camera. The equivalent in USA would be a fashion show. We? regularly dress up nice, but not often like a fashion show.

Stunning Beauty and Harmony with their surroundings!!! Thanks. One of my favorite things is to walk in nature? and bring home little bits of bark, seeds stone (things that do not disturb the area). I think I will start playing with wearing some of it. :)

Hans Silvester worked with the Omo to achieve certain effects the Omo liked. They'll repaint themselves several times a day. They really do view their bodies as canvases. Hans Silvester is? a remarkable man, a militant ecologist: if his subjects don't conform to our ideas of happiness, their culture and valleys are under assault. You wouldn't be happy either.

I think it is a sad commentary on our society that the painted people? video is age restricted! Our tolerance for violence is much higher than our tolerance for nudity. Where's that at? Some don't know the difference between nudity and pornography. It's disturbing!

I'm sorry for attacking you personally, it wasn't quite what I meant. I feel that the kind of rhetoric you use is common to the kind of people? who actively silence and dissuade other forms of resistance. I'd like to kindly and wholeheartedly thank you for the work you've done but I have serious issues with people who think we will change this world through "love" alone.
