Story of a seahorse carved in ice. The delight it brings to all who see it surpasses everyone's expectations. It rests on the terrace over the sea, and in a sense this seahorse plays host to all the sunset cocktail parties and nighttime soirees that take place there.

Flowtoys: Toroflux demo
Posted by: flowtoys
Video duration: 234 seconds
Global video hits: 66622
A mesmerizing kinetic sculpture and an interactive "flow toy" that's like a 4th dimensional "slinky". It folds down in a spiral direction to form a ring of rings and with a subtle movement, it pops open into a full torus of interconnected rings, surprising everyone. Comes with a mini-biner, so you can easily clip it to your bag or belt loop and bring it everywhere to share and spread the fun :)

I would recommend using northern basswood. As far as knives go,? they are "ambidextrous" as long as it been sharpened correctly on both sides. Also don't forget to use a carving glove made of a cut resistant material so you don't get cut. ^ l l { l\l

Thank you for watchin',unfortunately a lot of tools dont come sharp & "ready to carve",but don't give up,learning to sharpen correctly is an? artform in itself. For hand sharpening I use a quality brand, course diamond stone (for heavy stock removal) Then I graduate to a med. and then a fine diamond...the reason I like to have all 3 grits, I might not always need a course stone. The last stone I use is an Arkansas oil stone. Hope this helps. ^ l l { l\l
By: jesustokesxx. on 20 May 11, 19:42:46
This helps alot. I have a question though. I just bought the only wood carving knife i could find in a story around here and it didn't come with a sharp edge. My regular knife sharpeners dont get it sharp enough. What all do? I need to buy to get a razor edge on my carvin blade?
By: allengoodman69. on 03 Mar 11, 03:26:23
I always tell folks to get a good comfortable knife and a leather? strop w/ abrasive compound for maintaining the edge, also a 1/4'' u-gouge and a 1/8''-1/4'' v-tool. As long as I have these basic tools...I feel I can carve a lot of different things. Hope this helps & thanks for watchin' ! ^ l l { l\l

Thank you for commenting ! This sounds to be a special project for both of you, just remember patience and practice and if you have never carved that much, you may want to invest in? a cut resistant carving glove. Good luck and Merry Christmas ! ^ l l { l\l

Thanks for the video! I'm attempting to carve a canoe for my husband for Christmas. My 5 year old daugter wants to give him a present with the two of them fishing. She's making the people out of cloth and I get to carve. I've always? loved carving. Haven't done to much of it though.

hey allen what wood is this. i ve found pine to be soft enough to work easily on but again its? not too close grained to give a nice finish. also, where do we get the wood and the knives. i have done some chalk carving and want to try some wood carving too. thinking of starting with the example you have shown. thanks for sharing.
