Anthony @ DIYautotech takes you through the steps on how to port match ( gasket match) your cylinder heads. This is a fairly simple project that may take you about a day, but will give you a cylinder head with high flow rates. High Flow = More Power If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! If this isn't such a great route for high horsepower engines then why? do it at all? You said it got 8% more CFM on the flow bench. Wouldn't you want uber flow in a 400+ HP motor? I'm confused.

U HELP ME OUT ALOT FUCK THIS? GUYS

i guess another one who also build engines !?

he forgot to add dont attempt this if you dont have steady hands.? note the scars an experienced hand has made on the mating surface.

HEY DUMBASS! Do not port match the exhaust ports to a header gasket. An intentional mismatch between the exhaust port exits and the header pipes creates a "reversion dam".This sharp edge around the the exhaust port opening you removed helps prevents burned gases from re-entering the combustion chamber as pulses travel back and forth through? the exhaust system. since exhaust gases will not burn again. The steps taken? to reduce exhaust-gas contamination of the fresh charge? will increase power!

nice video. Very interested in getting my LT-1 heads port matched later on this? summer, and getting them CNC'd too.

and why aren't you porting the cylinder head again? or i guess im asking why would you NOT port the entire cylinder head just too? much work or what?
By: DIYautotech. on 05 Apr 12, 02:36:35
To rebuttal your very ignorant comment, this cylinder head had an 8% increase in CFM flow? after gasket matching on the flow bench. Remember, just because YOU also build engines, doesn't mean that "your" ways are the only ones that work. Open up your eyes a little bit and maybe you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.? Thanks, DIYautotech

I'M LMFAO there is 50 retards who think this guy knows what he is doing im one? of the 2 who disliked this video because he is showing you how to lose power and if you work for a machine shop you should be fired as should the guy who trained you.

if you grind to much meaning the gasket being bigger then the ports it would cause some restrictions wouldnt it? and also grinding the exaust would be the next step normally the stock exhausts that ive seen dnt really match the exhaust ports either?

A 50 cent gasket, where they hell? did you find one that cheap?
By: fasttrackme. on 17 Mar 12, 01:11:45
are gaskets generally cut to the same specifications?Meaning will doing this to one gasket brand make the ports not match a different brand gasket in the? future?

Thanks for taking the time to post this and share your knowledge! I found it helpful and? you make it seem easy.

Takes? a BIG man to admit he jumped the gun a bit, but doesn't detract from the message.

I agree with much of what your saying. I don't Like to really open up the intake ports as it slows down air and velocity is what its about. I just smooth and blend, I have friends that re shape ports and such but that is above my skill level. It? is so hard to explain all of this in just a few words. I agree, the smaller the intake port the better low end torque will be but as usual it all depends on what you want the engine to do.
By: gunforme. on 03 Feb 12, 11:21:18
I? agree on the importance of good intake airflow, but I'd encourage others not to underestimate the importance of the exhaust side. It is very important to be able to get the exhaust gases out quickly. When doing this kind of work I like to simply clean up and polish the intake ports, not really open the up. There smaller but smooth intake ports mean high air velocity=low end torque. The exhaust ports however being smaller usually benefit greatly from being opened up.

I have purchased two different gaskets in the past and they were slightly different from each other. I had purchased one, I believe it was a Felpro, and I used it to gasket match a intake? and cylinder head. Later when I went to do some work and change the gaskets I purchased another which was a little different and didn't match up quite the same. I took it back and got a different one of course. I believe that is why some choose to port match rather than gasket match.

2nd question , why match the cylinder head to the? gasket ? when the gasket fails there is no garranty the next gasket will match exactly.
By: wan2bvader. on 27 Jan 12, 16:12:12
1st question, why is? Arnie Cunningham from the movie Christine teaching?
By: s0lidllama. on 12 Jan 12, 01:02:29
My question is since youre removing such little bit of? material like on the 2, 3, 4 holes (left to right of camera) is it really worth your time and effort?
