This is Victory Gallop winning the Belmont Stakes by less than an inch over Triple Crown contender, Real Quiet. As a side note, I nearly fainted watching the end of this Belmont Stakes on TV as I had so much adrenaline running through my body thinking I was about to witness a Triple Crown winner. Gah..

Wow, this is just, wow. I wish I wouldve been alive to see this! I can guarentee you this record won't ever be broken, not the time or margin of victory. There will never be another Secretariat. Absolutely incredible. Even watching it, it? is hard to believe this actually happened because of how UNBELIEVABLE it is! Absolutely amazing.

Sham was a great horse, and held his own quite nicely in the Derby and Preakness. But in the Belmont, Secretariat delivered a knockout blow to end all knockout blows. After the first 3/4 mile, Sham's heart was taken away from him for good. But let's face it, no horse in the history? of racing could've even come close to beating Secretariat on that day.
By: JunmaiShu. on 20 May 12, 16:28:46
My guess...? most of the owners knew trying to beat that horse was futile, and didn't want to risk the health of their horses.

Maybe the greatest single athletic performance ever.? EVER!

Who won is the party who either drove out the invader or successfully invaded. The victory in the? war started in Europe by Germany was clearly led by Russia, albeit at great personal cost which they rightly feel is not always appreciated by free, non-fascist modern Western Europe. The secondary war scenario with Japan, America did indeed lead and win, just not the main war scenario with Germany. Glad to be of service.

Less than 1/2 a million lost vs. 9 million with only a slight population advantage to USSR...you call that winning? The Soviet invasion of Manchuria did not win the pacific, see "The U.S. Marine island hopping campaign" if you're interested in learning what won the pacific. Ask any former Soviets that feared for their lives if they would have rather lived with FDR & Truman or Stalin.? The USA won the war. You're welcome.
By: eckythimble. on 18 May 12, 18:14:08
Don't tar everyone with the same brush. My only role in all of this was to correct a misleading statement that America won WW2 when actually Russia did. Every educated war historian can validate that simple fact. What's political about facts? If? someone feels obligated to post a lie, then I am also permitted to post the true response. Thanks to your Founding Fathers, we are all allowed freedom of speech, right?

I would rank that line up there among the greatest calls of ANY sport. The choice and timing of those words and the emotional spontaneity of the delivery, always moves me in such a profound way. I can? never adequately explain in words why I cry almost every time I watch this race.
