Welcome to? YouTube!

Civil engineering, like most engineering degrees, requires math beyond Algebra to the level of Calculus II or Calculus III and may include Differential Equations. I've known, CE's who? got their degrees and were B and C students in Math and got jobs. If you're prepared for long hours of homework and sometimes challenging tests for up to 4 to 5 years, then yes. Technical writing, statistics, and computer analysis is also part of engineering education.

The job outlook for architecture is not that good at the moment. A one or two year degree from a community college in environmental or green energy construction installation or design is currently in demand. I would start just by gathering information to determine the educational and business requirements and whether these areas? may be right for you.

Engineering? firms meet the needs of their clients in a relatively short time frame. The reliance on analytical software has more to do with cost and efficiency. When I tutored undergraduate engineering students, most of the them wanted to get to the mathematical mechanics of a problem without learning the intrinsic fundamental properties of nature. This is a systemic problem inherent in both academia and industry. Most Engineers I know do analysis before making their decisions.

OK, your head is in a good place for going either CE or architect - and, while either can end up running construction projects, CE tends to be a less convoluted path to get there. I'd say that it's time for you to try night school at a local community college - there's a certain amount of crap involved in getting an AS degree, but you can take the math and drafting classes that you would need anyway at about the cheapest cost per unit and get a bit of a feel for which way? you want to go.

i have not taken any college courses yet, im trying to get some money and i work in a drywall company for now and i know is not the same but when i get a job? done i feel like construction is the right carrer for me of course i dont want to be a handy man all my life i want to get my education and be way up there in this business. i like buildings and designs perhaps i should try arquitechture i dont know.

No? engineering physics??
By: chemech. on 19 May 12, 02:18:46
And, the engineer who can present their plan with the appropriate business analysis has a fighting chance to get it approved... No Guarantees... Remember, in the land of the blind, the person with one eye is most likely to get lynched by? an angry mob!
By: chemech. on 19 May 12, 02:15:19
I've worked with guys who worked their way up from drafter to engineer - generally, they will know how to do a solid job - sometimes even innovative. That said, they very rarely seek out any kind of supervisory position, being? more of the career-corporals of the engineering world. But, if they cannot back up their decisions with solid analysis, they're in the wrong job - degreed or not...
By: chemech. on 19 May 12, 02:11:42
Can you get a C+ in calculus, physics, and freshman chemistry at the university? Absolute minimum requirements - better if you can score higher grades... CE's mostly need to be willing to beat the problem to death, and keep track of the details, and not drop any digits in their algebra... You should however have a desire to plan out buildings,? highways, and storm drains, and see your designs get built - the best Civil Engineers go on to get certified in structural design and analysis...

I designed a new? type of roundabout that goes on highways, where do I go to find a civil engineer to submit it and make it in a real-life figure?
By: vnzlan522. on 18 May 12, 06:49:37
i want to be a civil engineer, im okay at math? and science do you think i can really get into this career or you need to be a nerd in math to be able to go trough?

There are many things sold to be correct yet is not. Try to use your own examination. Do not allow yourself to stray away? from non-sense.
By: chroniclerofthe70s. on 14 May 12, 23:18:20
Good point. I know of companies that have had individuals without college hours supervising engineers simply because of the years the've worked for the company. I've witnessed arguments where such supervisors threaten to fire the engineers claiming their experiences on the? job gives them expertise over the engineers.
By: chroniclerofthe70s. on 14 May 12, 23:09:06
In the strict sense of the word, you're right. However, it is very close and methods overlap. Engineering often relies more on modeling and development testing. Science relies more on controlled experimentation based on fundamental principles. This fact was clearly made apparent during the Challenger disaster. Morton Thiakol engineers warned upper level management that the booster O rings had never been tested at such low temperatures and could possibly fail during the launch.?
By: chroniclerofthe70s. on 14 May 12, 23:01:49
That was a problem for me for a few equations during my undergraduate studies. Senior and graduate level classes began to fill in the gaps or reveal the limitations of those equations. However, those equations are modified to deal with very narrow conditions allowing for better predictions under real world conditions. ?
By: chroniclerofthe70s. on 14 May 12, 22:55:59
I? think your right, I recall a least a couple of equations in both fields that were valid within rather narrow parameters. However, I worked on many engineering problems with equations that were applicable under narrow conditions or specifications. Thus, many of the those equations became obsolete within a decade as new methods or technologies were introduced.

If you ask me, the most frustrating thing about any engineering, is that engineers are controlled? by business/marketing people. So often times, the smart people are controlled by the idiots.
By: heartlessvietboy. on 14 May 12, 15:00:16
Equations? that don't add up. Terms used that are not explained accurately.

What flaws are there in Physics and? Chemistry?
By: chroniclerofthe70s. on 13 May 12, 16:54:34
Are you an engineer? Designing using scientific knowledge as a guide or designing with respect to contraints based on scientific principles in conjunction? with applied mathematics using CAD is applied science, which is what most engineers do.
By: heartlessvietboy. on 12 May 12, 21:33:44
Engineering is not applied? science, driving your car is not called Drivendorf. We can list many, the question is whether it would be approved as a waste of time.
By: arimita070190. on 11 May 12, 20:40:02
i should have never taken this course? damnit lol
By: solidysnake1. on 11 May 12, 08:07:03
Good for you. Everybody should follow their own bend and do things that interest them. Fuck assholes who say people are making a bad choice by not choosing a science subject. Yeah I said It I am fucking angry at those fuck face, most of them are Indian Engineers, fuck them. I know an Indian Engineer wanted his son to be a doctor, the son wanted to be a musician. He? flunked out of school and had a mental breakdown. There is something fucking wrong with Engineers, especially Indians
By: guitarmessiah95. on 11 May 12, 04:29:07
This all seems really cool. I use to? be an all history/english guy. now i like math and a bit of science.
