You learn absolutely nothing by gridding a photo. Art is not this cheap and easy, it takes years of practice. That said, art is very fun and gridding is not. If you want to be an artist then learn to relax your hand and keep your eyes on the reference 95% of the time.

Like you said before, normally you don't measure by pencil but by eye. And once? you get into it more, this should be a sufficient measuring technique.
It's simply just more fun measuring purely by eye because it's so much smoother and not as tedious as pinpointing every dot with the pencil.
I like this whole series, though. Especially the first vids gave me some nice insights *thumbs up*

If you do this exercise as? a beginner you probably want to measure a lot. The more experienced you are you only meed to measure a few points accurately to start. Other than that you would take the time to double check eyeball measurements when something seems off

Increments of roughly 25 find the values? in between. Another option is two do a gif with a set palette of the 10 values. Turn dithering off and you get a similar effect.

Pink pearl works the best for graphite. With the way i draw i pretty much draw? with the eraser using swift but sutle sweeps across the paper.

Graphite the eraser can last for years. Charcoal might turn completely black after a few drawings. Dirty erasers work good for blending and making marks with. If you use different media you want to make sure to keep your erasers separate. ? An eraser used on charcoal or color pencils will make funny marks on graphite drawings
